McCallum Engineering was founded in the 1970s by Barry and Rose McCallum and over the years has built a reputation for delivering cost effective solutions for engineering projects. Barry and Rose have since retired but the business continues to thrive, with the current owners, Ross & Carole Haliday of McCallum Cranes Ltd building on the business model established by the McCallum family.
At McCallum Engineering we build almost anything in steel.
We specialise in structural steel work for gantry and portal cranes of all sizes. We offer a complete crane service: design, build, installation, repairs and maintenance.
For many years we have been building, repairing and relocating cranes throughout New Zealand for some of New Zealand’s largest companies. In addition to new Demag and Hydromech hoists and components we can often supply a cost effective E-crane alternative from our stock of used equipment.

With our dedicated team of certified welders, fabricators, boilermakers and fitter-turners we have undertaken projects as diverse as a windmill tower, galvanising kettles, steel bridges, ballustrades and gates to name just a few. Plant relocation is another area where we have considerable experience. In our machine shop we manufacture shafts, pins, wheels etc. Having this capability in-house can enable us to complete a job quickly when we might otherwise be held up waiting for a specific part.
