McCallum Engineering was founded in the 1970s and over the years has built a reputation for delivering cost effective solutions for engineering projects. In 2014 Stephen Howman of McCallum Cranes (2014) Ltd purchased the business and brings many years of engineering expertise in lifting equipment, building maintenance units and special purpose machinery to this well respected business.
At McCallum Engineering we specialise in overhead cranes. We build gantry, portal and gib cranes of all sizes and offer a complete service: design, build, installation, repairs and maintenance.
For many years we have been building, repairing and relocating cranes throughout New Zealand for some of New Zealand's largest companies. In addition to new Demag and Hydromech hoists and components we can often supply a cost effective E-crane alternative from our stock of used equipment.
McCallum Engineering has recently been appointed the sole Australian/New Zealand representative of Gondolas In Design S.L (Gind) of Spain. Gind are a leading European supplier of Building Maintenance Units in both the European and American markets, well respected for for quality and innovative design. McCallum Engineerings' local project management and engineering resources combine with Gind product to provide seamless project delivery to the Australian and New Zealand construction markets.
In addition to crane work we do Plant Maintenance, servicing and repairing for the reinforcing-steel and pre-cast concrete industry.
With our team of certified welders, boilermakers and fitter-turners we tackle a range of projects including:
- Structural steel for the construction industry
- Crane beams
- Concrete moulds
- Galvanising kettles
- Steel bridges, balustrades and gates
In our machine shop we manufacture shafts, pins, wheels etc. Having this capability in-house can enable us to complete a job quickly when we might otherwise be held up waiting for a specific part.
Our Team
We have a small but dedicated team of tradesmen covering a range of skills; fabrication, welding, mechanical and machining. We have the ability to undertake a diverse range of projects in addition to our core Crane and Structural-Steel work.
Service & Maintenance
Our team services a variety of crane brands and types, with ongoing maintenance a large part of the business. We conduct scheduled preventive maintenance service-checks, and offer a breakdown and repair service for our customers all over the country. Our eco-crane components are often invaluable for customers with a crane in need of urgent repairs, or faced with having an early model crane out of commission because a new part is unavailable.
